The 2009
Southco Distributing Company 24th
Annual Super Show
of Savings was held
April 21 - 22,
2009
at the Greenville Convention Center.
Our 24th Annual Southco
Super Show was held in Greenville,
NC on April 21-22, 2009. This is
our big spring event that we plan
for our customers as an appreciation
for doing business with us. The
Super Show allows our customers to
take advantage of some great deals
on everyday items as well as new
items. I want to thank everyone
that helped in making our Southco
Super Show a huge success! It was
truly a team effort with exceptional
results.
Our two day event started with our
customer/vendor appreciation golf
tournament at Greenville Country
Club. This is a great time for
Southco vendors and customers to get
to know each other. After golf, our
Customer/vendor appreciation dinner
is held at the Greenville Hilton
Ballroom. This gives our customers,
vendors, and Southco employees a
chance to interact outside of our
day-to-day business environment.
Golf awards are handed out and a
wonderful dinner is provided for our
guests. Following dinner we provide
exciting entertainment to close out
the night. This year one of our
very own customers provided the
entertainment. Sunshine Jones from
West Ashley Exxon and her band
member Bruce Tereo sang songs from
Beach to Oldies to Country. They
have been performing together for
almost a decade and were actually
able to get people on the dance
floor, which has never been done
before!
The next day the show opened at 9 am
with customers ready to purchase on
the show floor. Once again we used
the Show Right ordering terminals
which places all trade show orders
electronically. This is a great
advantage for the vendors and
customers because they can leave the
show knowing what was sold and
purchased. We had over 8000 orders
placed with approximately 1.1
million is sales at the show.
Considering the economic situation
we are in, I am very pleased with
these results.
We had 250 customers in attendance
this year which represented over 500
stores. Our vendors offered great
promotions and prizes to give away
such as NASCAR tickets, Jimmy Buffet
tickets, digital cameras, and even a
flat screen TV. We also had
scheduled drawings for our now
famous money booth for a chance to
win big money. We gave over $1000
in cash to qualified customers.
Based off purchases some of our
customers qualified to receive gift
cards from Food Lion, Lowe’s, and
Target from show points that were
accumulated. Most vendors offered
two ship dates which allowed
customers to maximize their savings
and show points.
All in all, this show was a great
opportunity to engage our customers
and vendors and to show our
appreciation for everything they do
for us. I am looking forward to
another successful show next year
which will be held again in
Greenville on April 13th-14th,
2010.
Thanks,
April Garver,
Marketing Director
