Southco
Distributing Company was established
on February 18, 1981 with the
purchase of Southern Wholesale
Company. After twenty-five years
with the company, serving as its
President and co-owner since 1981,
Sherwin Herring purchased the
company in March 1996.
In October of
2004, Southco moved into a new
220,000 square foot distribution
facility located at 2201 South John
Street in Goldsboro, NC. Southco
regularly employs over 200.
Mr. Herring served as the 2009
Chairman of the American
Wholesale Marketers Association, and
is serving as Chairman Emeritus
during 2010. The
AWMA is the only international trade
organization working on behalf of
convenience distributors in the
United States. Its distributor
members represent more than $85
billion in U.S. convenience product
sales. Associate members include
manufacturers, brokers, retailers
and others allied to the convenience
product industry.

Our current sales and distribution territories include North Carolina,
South Carolina,
West Virginia, Virginia,
Tennessee
and Georgia. All shipments originate from our Goldsboro, North Carolina facility.
